Saint Paul Public Schools is dedicated to holding itself accountable for continuous improvement. The Office of Accountability, Planning and Policy is responsible for ensuring that our teachers, staff and schools are preparing all students for successful lives.

The Office of Accountability includes the departments of:

These departments support schools, programs and other Saint Paul Public Schools departments in their efforts to attain district, state and federal accountability goals and objectives.


What We Do

  • Coordinate development and implementation of the district’s Strategic Plan, Annual Report and Shared Accountability Framework Monitor, review and analyze school and district performance and improvement efforts
  • Assess and report compliance with district, state and federal performance goals and objectives
  • Oversee and monitor federal entitlement grants and provisions of supplemental educational services
  • Facilitate development and implementation of Board policies and administrative procedures
  • Oversee district’s policy and legislative activities, including testimony and correspondence with local, state and federal governmental agencies and officials
  • Serve as liaison to SPPS Board-authorized charter schools

  • Need district, school or student performance data and/or analysis
  • Have questions about existing Board policy or administrative procedures or need help drafting proposals for new ones
  • Receive an invitation to testify on behalf of the district before a local, state or federal body, or a request from an official to visit or hold an event at your school or site
  • Need to know the district’s position on an issue, or want to offer a recommendation for a position
  • Need copies of, and/or presentations on, the Strategic Plan, Annual Report or Shared Accountability Framework
  • Have questions or concerns regarding SPPS Board-authorized charter schools
  • Would like information on conducting external research projects throughout the district
